Florida's Disaster FundUAIC recently donated $2500 to the Florida's Disaster Fund, a non-profit organization. The fund was created to raise money to aid Floridians with recovery from natural disasters through strengthening families and rebuilding communities.

Illinois StateUAIC recently donated $25,000 to the Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League of Illinois. The organization was established in 1994 and is a non-profit guided youth organization with a mission to reduce juvenile delinquency. The organization promotes positive interaction by relying on athletics and recreational activities between law enforcement and youth-oriented communities that have historically high rates of juvenile crime.

The event was hosted by the City of Miami Gardens and took place during the last week in October. Event activities included a health fair, costume party, and the "Pink and Boobs Walk."

St. BrendanUAIC recently donated $500 the St. Brendan High School's varsity cheerleading squad. The donation was made on behalf of a UAIC employee's daughter. Opened in 1956, St. Brendan High School is a Catholic school and is a part of the Archdiocese of Miami.

Diabetes AwarenessUAIC sponsors National Diabetes Awareness Month Event 2012, which educates residents, young and old, about healthy lifestyles. The event will also include healthy eating food demonstrations led by chefs and dieticians, along with music and entertainment. The event will be hosted by City of Miami Gardens Vice Mayor Lisa C. St. JudesUAIC recently sponsored and donated $10,000 to the St. Jude Golf Classic. The event took place August 6, 2012 in Chicago to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital. St. Jude, a hospital for sick and suffering children, continues to provide care for children regardless of race, religion or ability to pay.

Our Lady of LourdesUAIC has donated $2,500 dollars in support of their programs to Our Lady of Lourdes in Chicago. Our Lady of Lourdes, established in 1892, dedicates its efforts to feeding the hungry and comforting the stranger. Since 1981, Our Lady of Lourdes opens its doors as a soup kitchen daily.

UAIC joins with LEO Foundation and the Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police to Honor Law Enforcement

United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) teamed with the Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police to honor fallen officers of Miami-Dade County law enforcement at the Twelfth Annual Law Enforcement Officers Gala. Mr. Parrillo was honored as well for his work with the families of the fallen officers, including setting up $25,000 College funds for the children of those brave officers. He received a Donald Farlin award for his ongoing support. The event took place at the Miami Beach Convention Center on January 21, 2012 and drew more than 900 guests and honorees. Officers throughout Miami-Dade County were honored in categories of Uniform Services, Safety, Specialized Services, Support Services, Investigative Services, and Federal Agent of the Year, Task Force of the Year, and State and Federal Prosecutor of the Year.

UAIC Sponsors Legal Aid Service's 11th Annual "For the Public Good" Event

For The Public Good

United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) sponsored Legal Aid Services of Broward county/Coast to Coast Legal Aid Services' annual "For the Public Good" fund raising event, which attracted more than 350 local attorneys, judges and businesses. The event, which was held on September 28 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina raised almost $200,000 for this worthy not-for-profit organization. UAIC donated $5,000, which will help assure that the most vulnerable population of Broward County has a voice in the justice system. Legal Aid assists more than 10,000 individuals and families each year by providing free legal services. The organization also helps out more than 150 of the area's non-profits, acting as the legal arm for them.

The Dade County Police Benevolent Association, which represents more than 6,500 law enforcement officers, held their 19th annual Law Enforcement Awards Gala May 19, 2012 at the Miami Beach Resort. More than 600 guests attended, including law enforcement officers and their families, state and local government leaders and citizens. The event pays tribute to the women and men of Dade County's "Thin Blue Line" for their outstanding acts of bravery and courage. Donations specifically went to the Love Fund that assists families of officers killed in the line of duty.

Do The Right Thing

United Auto is the title sponsor of the 2012 Do the Right Thing Summer Salute Dinner. This tribute recognized the top Do the Right Thing winners of the 2011-2012 school year. UAIC's Blanca Aparicio has been an Advisory Board member of DTRT for almost five years and helps select monthly winners throughout the county. The organization works with the Miami Police Department to reward local children for positive behavior, accomplishments and actions in the community.

Multiple Sclerosis Walk

United Auto's CFO Paul Polachek participated in the 2012 MS Walk in Aventura as the title sponsor. UAIC donated $25,000 and Paul recruited two different teams, about 55 people to walk in his name - in hope for a cure for MS. Paul also participated in the walk, although he was pushed in a wheelchair due to the disease. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a year ago.

Through the PASS program, UAIC adopted Crestview as its corporate sponsor from 2008-2011.

Investigators Uncover Clinics with Ties To Staged Accidents

Undercover agents broke up a ring of at least 55 people with assets relating to staged accidents, insurance fraud and racketeering. Based on what we have heard about widespread fraud in the Tampa Bay area, more investigations and arrests are needed. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) fraud is a huge problem, not just in Tampa Bay, but across the state. North Miami Police Fake Insurance Card Sweep

On November 24th, 2009 the North Miami Beach Police Department in conjunction with the NICB Florida Medical Fraud Task Force conducted for the first time in its history a fake insurance card traffic check. Due in part to economic times, it was deemed by the North Miami Beach Police that drivers on the road with no car insurance pose a real threat to the public at large in the event of an accident, negatively impacting both the legitimate insured as well as the member companies.

This operation was a collaborated effort between the North Miami Beach Police Department, NICB, and the (19) member companies that participated in this operation which were State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, 21st Century, GMAC, MetLife, United Auto, Infinity Insurance, Seminole Insurance, Geico, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Titan, Victoria, Depositors, Allied, Unitrin Direct, Star Casualty and Mercury Insurance & (1) Non Member RAC Insurance.

This operation netted (5) arrests and over 60 traffic citations in a span of several hours. Thanks to the collaborated efforts of all involved the North Miami Beach Police Department plans on repeating this operation in the coming year.

The 3rd Annual Jazz in the Gardens at Dolphin Stadium

Miami Gardens' signature music event, took place at Dolphin Stadium on March 15-16. The event, cosponsored by UAIG, featured both contemporary artists such as Kem and Wyclef Jean, as well as some classic performers such as Nancy Wilson and the O'Jays. The event spanned over two days and included food, shopping and entertainment.

St. Jude Shoot Out Charity Golf Tournament

February 16, 2007

United Auto sponsored the 2007 St. Jude Shoot Out charity golf tournament, dinner and auction at the Woodlands Country Club in Tamarac. The event, hosted by Bo Jackson and United Auto executive vice president Beau Parrillo, raised a record $500,000 in support of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its fight against cancer and other diseases. Mr. Parrillo announced that the company will double its signature sponsorship to $100,000 next year and offer St. Jude patients access to the United Auto Insurance Group aircraft for transportation to the hospital in Memphis.

Presidents' Fest in the Park

Miami Children's Hospital - Child Safety Seat Check Station

May, 2006

United Automobile Insurance Group teamed up with Miami Children's Hospital to provide one of the only indoor Child Safety Seat Check stations in the country. The program, which operates year round, teaches parents how to choose the right child seat, how to install the seat and how to position the child properly. United Auto covers most of the program's costs, including equipment and staffing. The company has also donated hundreds of safety seats to local parents.

ASPIRA of Florida Career and College Expo

Nearly 200 local students participated in ASPIRA of Florida's Career and College Expo in South Florida. United Automobile Insurance Group co-hosted the "Keys to Catching your Dreams" career fair for two consecutive years in an effort to encourage students to pursue and achieve their dreams.
